Am I being naive?

My dear *waves back* this all your fault ;) I prefer to think of it less in terms of 'Fault' and more in terms of 'Enabling'

You are my idol  I honestly can't imagine cleaning anything for 2 hrs though :lol:Don't panic! An Eglu on its own and three chickens will take no where near two hours to clean :D

I am hoping to go to a hen party, asap just so I can gauge if keeping chickens is in my realm lol! So if it's something I really can't imagine myself doing ever, i've at least not wasted my time and energy iykwim? Makes perfect sense, and you will meet lots of others who are in the same boat. Let me know when/which you go to, I will make Hubby bring us along too :)

Wish me luck :DWising you lots of luck, and reminding you to save! save! save! so no buying any more slings and things

:D

YOu are so right you enabler

Who wants an eglu and 3 chickens???!! lol! I keep swaying from eglu, to cube, to wooden house :anxious::anxious:

I'm going to mail you re the hen party ;)

Slings are a thing of the past lol (not really, stash complete - i may be able to sell a couple of things to add to the fund)! However the new bed, wardrobe, decorating, baby stuff, garden fence .... need to be bought before the chooks come :cry:

A good omlet trick to help you save for your eglu or next cube  is to save £2 coins in a tin. Any you get don't spend, just stash them away. You'll be suprised how nicely it saves up :D .

Thanks so much for the suggestion. Although, i'd be *stealing* from my son as generally they are his. Maybe if I just divert the funds for a LITTLE WHILE? We'll both benefit after all

Hi,

Ive read your initial post and then replying threads with interest....

I am new to keeping chickens, like you i researched and researched and then researched some more, i dreamt about the blinking things, read books, searched the internet and drove my husband mad.

We couldn't really afford one but asked for contributions towards an eglu etc as wedding presents.

Like you i have a family, an 8 year old, a six year old and a 10 month old, a puppy, oh yes and a husband who was no where near as enthusiastic as me about our feathered friends

However, ive found them the most easiest pet to look after, everything they say is true... they put thier selves in at night and even go back into the run after they've been wondering around the garden. i've found the eglu really easy and quick to clean and am overall really impressed. Even the husband got excited when we got out first egg today :D

I was really scared of picking them up and before they were delivered even had a few dreams about it, but have to say ive even now got the courage to do that, i can't believe how friendly they are.

Good luck with whatever you choose but i think they're great and i'm sure you'll manage fine!
