introducing new ex-batts to recent ex-batts?

Having sadly lost one of our three ex-batts last night for some unknown reason, we are keen to get a couple of newbie ex-batts as I understand that introducing one new one is not a good idea. My questions are:

  • Would 4 chickens be OK in our Eglu or is that overcrowding?

How do we introduce them as we don't have a second Eglu to keep them separated - will it be ok to put them together straight away? We've only had our other ex-batts for 2 weeks and they settled down fine with no sign of fighting etc
