Shanijo
Hi Folks I wonder if anybody can help. We bought our eglu and our two chucks last May everythings great girls our laying, but just before christmas Belle the miss pepperpot lost some of her feathers just below her bottom. I left a message here christmas time and was told because she was late laying she was moulting late. But only a few of her feathers have come back and some of her skin looks red and sore. I've checked her for mites which she doesn't have and the other one is fine. Could anybody please help answer our question. Regards Nigel and Sharon Lily Belle
Egluntyne
Have you checked for lice too? Have a look around her vent and if you can see clusters of eggs cemented to the feathers, some Johnson's Anti Lice spray will sort them out. *Not licensed for use on poultry in UK There is an egg withdrawal period of a couple of days after using this product. You could use some tea tree and lavender cream to soothe the sore skin. Also made by Johnsons and available at pet shops.

Dave36
Hi we Brougt ours last may as well, We have 8 and 7 have exactly the same problem as yours but a little worse with the feather loss. Tails up happy all laying daily no lice, no bugs, nothing? Longest moult in history....or is it... I think that our Mother hen mrs pepperpot is feather eating a lot as i some times catch her doing it so now i have put a bit in her mouth and check to see whats happening, Im not saying i have found the answer but within 3days i have noticed little feathers sprouting out of the baldies, So fingers crossed we may have solved our problem ....hopefully....
