New girls so far a success!

Recommended Posts

What a relief three girls arrived yesterday. Picked up the two hybrids from one place and then the silkie from another place. We were really worried about how they would be but so far so good !

There has been a little pecking but i assume this is normal behaviour and have been out in their run all day and seem to be eating and drinking, and much less pecking.

Amazingly the Silkie laid an egg on her first morning. The breeder said he thought she was coming into lay and we were amazed by her gift to us this morning. Unfortunately she is my daughters chicken and when i left the egg there for 20 mins waiting for her to come home to find it herself it had been broken. It seemed very soft is it normal for the shell to be soft with a first egg ?

The silkie is reluctant to roost but with gentle encouragement from a mop she can be steered in !

So far has been lovely !!! What a great birthday present.
