Hi,

How quick do combs flush from pale pink to red? Is it a gradual flush over a day, week or what? I know the pelvic bone test (average of two fingers between each bone is a good indicator), but how quick do combs flush?

Hi Phil,

 

No expert but with Fudge Crumpet (our one and only layer) I noticed her comb getting larger and larger and then whilst still been quite pink - she laid her first egg and over night it became and very vibrant red. I must say she looks beautiful. Then I am biased.

 

This probably hasn't helped - we are trying to guess who will lay next dependant on comb size and colour but it seems to change daily!

lily has been red in face for weeks and no eggs yet

Tish started laying a couble of days ago and she was still pink ( getting red now )
