Guest Posted April 1, 2009 Share Posted April 1, 2009 hi i rescue ex batts but to do this you have to be reg im defra. /rspca reg all poultry farms do not like peaple picking up birds from them as bad for publicity when you go find what birds live in not there fault its the food chain that makes it this way certain size egg certain shape for supply to customer somtimes 30.000 go for slaughter in one day when got to age of slaughter but people like me then go on day buy birds for rehoming people think we get them for nothing but not so we have to pay araond £1 where food chains pay 25p per birdfor 20/30.000 i keep my birds for at least one wk to readjust to life outdide cages as its a lot of stress for them thrown into new life outside cages in one month rehomed 380 birds to new homes awaiting new stock at moment Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chick1 Posted April 1, 2009 Share Posted April 1, 2009 hi, Thanks for that,I did wonder though about going to get them from a battery place, as the battery place near us went up in a blue light a few years ago(paper announced police report that it was arson by animal activists)and there were people just going loading vans up with the remaining survivors the day after(i suppose this was a exception though through circumstances)it was awful though you could smell chicken from quite a way away and it did make me think how many birds had died as it is quite a big place.
