No Eggs Help!!

Recommended Posts

Morning Everyone,

I got two female 18 month old white campbell/utility ducks, I will have had them nearly a month now and only two eggs in the first day, I keep checking but nothing, I have tried putting in the dummy eggs, they sleep separately in the eglu at night for peace and quite and I let them out between 8.00am and 8.30am, I am feeding them layer pellets and they seem to be eating them fine as well as foraging and extra titbits I give them. I also have two boys which are pleased to have girlfriends for company, they are only 12 months old, but they are not too hard on the girls, although they do make the girls run around to get away from them at times. What am I doing wrong that they are not producing eggs.

Can you suggest anything.

Thanks

There has been a few feathers lying around but I think that it's more coming from when the boys are jumping on there backs. They seem to be fine health wise they dont appear to be sick but the smallest of the ducks likes to hide in the eglu away from the boys for a good part of the day and the other one like to hang around with the boys for some reason. Was reading about being egg bound sounds worrying. This may sound silly but the girls are really making a lot of poop mess compared to the last year with the boys is that to do with them eating there layer pellets?

Thanks

thanks for all your advice. I noticed last night that when the boy was jumping on the girls back you could see an egg, so i raced out to chase him off her back to give her peace to lay it but I was too late and she laid and egg on the ground, it was quite soft and bit see through and it was open at one end, if he had left her alone do you think we may have had a proper egg in the morning?, not sure if they need split up or not but when I do separate them the one that has laid the egg likes to be in the boys company. Not sure what to do, just wait and see what happens. Also Poultry Spice vitamins is this a one off thing you can give the ducks or would you give them some daily or weekly as it does not state anything on the tub, just wondered if anyone knew.

Cheers
