At last cured my terrier from chicken attack!

Recommended Posts

Weve done it

Out Parson Russell Terrier is at last leaving the chickens alone and no longer wants to chase/kill them!

We couldnt let her out whilst the chooks were in the free range area as she would chase them, whine, bark, snap etc but we have at last managed to stop her all with the help of compressed air!

I popped to my local pet shop to buy a remote activating spray collar so she would get a spray of citronella to her face, but was apalled at the price

Spoke to a lovely lady there who showed me a can of pet correcto! (air in a can!...my husband still cannot believe I paid £10.00 for air in a can!)

But much to his suprise it has worked.

the can releases a blast of compressed air which is shot over the dogs head when she shows bad behaviour, this make a loud hiss and now she thinks the chickens are the most evil creatures on the plant and gives them a wide berth.

Now when we go into the garden together I take the can just in case she forgets herself, but have only had to use it around 4 times!

Much happier times now in the garden and she can go out when she pleases al be it under supervision!

I would reccomend this to others training naughty dogs who just will not listen to NO!! and it saved me around £90.00

Michelle :D

I never leave them together, because my dog just cannot be trusted.......however because the chooks aren't scared of her anymore they dont run away/ flap and she is a lot calmer, she actually got her nose close enough for a sniff when I was stroking Ginger the other day and didnt want to go for her!

She is really curious and loves to sit outside the nestbox listening to them moving around in there!

She also loves the free snacks she manages to snuffle out of the run, you know the squidgy brown and white variety

Never heard of that sounds a good idea..but still wouldnt trust your russell..I have the dopiest cocker spaniel but he would kill my chickens and i know he would grab and be away down the garden..he just reverts to instinct unfortunately .but hopefully I hope they give him a big peck on the nose..

probably good on a younger dog indie
