*mummy_hen*
I currently have 4 hens but am very tempted to get a couple of ducks, i grew up with runners and my mum also now has 2 cambell ladies and everytime i see them i am more and more tempted!! My problem is, i have an average size garden and we not long ago gravelled most of it as the chickens were destroying the grass. How much space would 2 ducks need - we would obviously provide a pond, but would we need to regrow the grass in their area as i believe ducks need grass more so than chickens. Any help much appreciated!
Guest
ducks are really messy and def need a pond as they need to put their heads in! So it will need regular cleaning etc (winter etc). Also domestic ducks dont need to perch either they are quite happy on the floor with bedding. Thats it..i use to feed mine pellets but they were out all day free ranging and didnt put themselves in at night like chickens do..they come down to the house but had to be ushered in which if u work is a pain. I have just got chickens and cant believe how much easier they are than ducks Hope that helps indie
