Fighting rabbits - Help!

Recommended Posts

I have just picked up my two rescue rabbits from the RSPCA on Friday, they were fine together until Saturday afternoon, when they started rolling around, fur flying and blood was drawn.

Really not sure what to do with them now, I have separated them, called the local RSPCA near me, they were less than helpful.

Any top tips to get them to stop this would be appreciated - thanks

You could try gradually re-introducing them by putting them in cages where they can see/sniff one another but not get at each other, for a few mins each day, then after a few days put them together on neutral territory for a few mins and gradually build up the time. Slow and steady you can't rush it.

Shame the RSPCA didn't advise you when you got them!!

Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply. I have finally succeeded in getting them to like each other, they now seem very happy with each other.

I separated the eglu, as I had a guinea pig end bit, rotated them into each others section each day. Made them sit on our sofa together for hours at a time, which neither of them looked very happy about, then let them out to free range (supervised) in my garden for most of they day given the current weather.

About three days ago I opened the guinea pig door at night time as there had been no more fighting, and soon I will be removing it entirely.

They are as I type lying by the back door grooming each other, so the signs are promising.
