Ain't Nobody Here
I've noticed that my girls eat all the oystershell more quickly than the grit so I've decided to buy them some ordinary mixed grit but buy some extra oystershell to go with it. This Ebay seller has mixed poultry grit but also sells oystershell for cage birds. Would that be OK for the girls? Does anyone know if the size of the pieces of shell matters? Hen Watch
ANH my last purchase of oyster shell wasn't successful as it was too big. I got some from a pet shop (for caged birds) it looked ok size wise but the chooks would not eat it as it was a fraction too big. So now I just stick to mixed poultry grit which seems to have slightly smaller pieces of shell in it. I suppose I could always smash it up with a hammer to use it up??? Ain't Nobody Here
Yay, a reply . I've actually ordered some from Ebay (grit and extra oystershell). I'll watch out to see if they'll eat it! Thanks .
