WIR with Cube Outside - Where do I put the hole!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Spent the weekend preparing the garden ready to start building our WIR before getting our chickens and Cube in a couple of months.

We've decided to have the Cube on the outside of the WIR - for those with this set up can anybody tell me how high/wide I need to make the hatch to allow the chickens to come out of the cube door straight into the WIR!

Thanks!

I was in the same situation a couple of weeks ago.

There are some pictures on here with cubes on the outside

I built most of my wir and once it was delivered and i had it put cube on slabs outside I just put the last batons up and butted the run up to it... I used mesh folded over . If my son gets back from work soon I took some more pictures from inside.

All I do is remove the trays most of the time to clean (line them with newspaper) and i just drop those into the incinerator and burn it.

I have only hosed the perches once as most of it falls through to the trays(so i only moved the cube once so far).

Now they are laying the nest box is not getting as much poo in it, they seem to keep this really clean

But have a look at the top of this section there a lots of pics some are very good

I visited and measured but then decided to wait for it to arrive

The only thing I wasnt able to use was the cube ladders so i made my own ones(palmer 07 has some pics if you ask). I found the cube ladders are a complete waste of money and there was a thread on here about them a while back

Good luck indie :)
