kelschooks
Hi all I need some advice about how best to integrate the 3 new ex-batts we are getting in 10 days time with the current 3. We are building a new hen house for them all but my plan is t move the current hens in first whilst keeping the new hens in the current hen house so that I can keep them apart for a bit. The current hen house is in a walk in run area which the chickens use all the time (shut in the house at night) and the chooks are allowed free-range of our 100ft garden when we are here. The new hen house will be outside of the run but with a connecting door so that there is more space in the run when we have 6 rather than 3 hens. What is the best tactic? Should I just watch from a distance and introduce them to each other straight away? Is there a set time they should be kept apart in terms of making sure they don't pass on disease? Any advice from people experienced in this would be welcome. TIA Kelly x
