probably a silly question !

Recommended Posts

I am hopefully about to get my coop this week and was just thinking about feeding. On alot of pictures I have seen the feeders are in the run, but what about inside the coop when they are in at night ? Surely they need at least water to drink at night ????

Or am I being stupid ?

Hi House-elf

Generally they dont need food and water over night so I wouldn't worry. They stock up before they go to bed. You'll notice that they'll have a very full crop.

Also I take my food in overnight to discourage foxy and rats and to prevent it being wasted if it becomes damp....

Hope you enjoy your chooks. dont forget the pics :D

Hi, no need to worry, they don't need food or drink at night.

Even in winter when they go to bed at 4pm rather than 10pm, they are still ok until I open the eglu up at 7.30am. Water and food in the housing will just get knocked over and pooped upon. They will be fine, my lot are still alive after 2 years......so they won't starve overnight.
