Ygerna
I took the two eggs that had not hatched and opened them. It was both interesting and rather sad. They were both perfectly formed little chicks. One seemed to have slightly more of the yolk sack left than the other, suggesting that they died on different days. On a cheerier note though: Amy has now abandoned the other two eggs that were still under her, taking the three chicks to the other side of the nest area. They have also been out into the run area so can now be seen on our webcam I can hear lots of chirping and cheeping from the chicks, and lots of contended clucking from Amy. Such amazingly tender sounds though.
Phosphorus
We did this as well - 2 hadn't got any further than day one, probably not fertile and the other 2 were pretty much perfectly formed, one behind the other though with some yolk sac left. Had heard cheaping from one as well so it had nearly made it, just didn't manage to pip Really lovely to hear that mum has taken chicks out. I loved that bit, couldn't believe that they are taken out into the big wide world (well bigger than the eglu bit) so early
