Where can I buy these from and are they biodegradable ? I am putting my hens on concrete but want to put wood chippings down so they can still scratch and forage when they are in the run. At other times they will be free ranging.

Thanks

Oh and can they go in the compost bin ???

B&Q sell woodchip in 70l bags, about £5ish I think.

They are biodegradable and can be put in the compost bin but will take an age to breakdown.

Have you considered using Aubiose/Hemcore/Bliss or similar horse bedding in the run? It will "soak up" the poo which helps with the whiff and is MUCH easier to poo pic.

I started with woodchip but didn`t get on with it. I changed to Aubiose after ANH whipped out her pic of her (blue eglu) with nifty plastic roofing and i have not looked back since :D
