paulabrewer
Hello! Just about to buy duck house with run. Any tips on what we should be looking for? Have seen what looks like a good one for 2 ducks for about £130. Any tips on the cleaning out....we were thinking of laying shallow plastic trays in the bottom of the house bit to aid cleaning. Also, is bark a good idea for the floor of the run. They will be out in garden for most of the day. Paula
Guest
Hi sounds great I lined my wooden duck house floor with old piece of lino..wood shavings would be better as if they lay an egg they can make a hollow and then you have to find the eggs! (its usually obvious in one spot) they dont need a nesting box..so an old dog kennel with door would be fine..flat floor and plastic trays would be ideal..I think the wood bark is not such a good idea?? they do make a right mess at least with wood shavings its easy to compost..and absorbant Thats it...good ventilation too may need to put it on a layer of bricks just to stop rats etc harbouring but they only need a low level ramp(no steps up to the door) v low level good luck what are you getting
