I had a beautiful sparrow hawk fly throught the garden last night, it was quite interesting to see my hens reactions to it! They all stood stock still, eyes boggled and their tail feathers had all fanned out! Considering they have never seen one before (being ex-batts) I thought it was interesting to see their natural instincts at work! :o

I sometimes see all mine standing stock still, heads as high as they'll go, looking over the fence into the neighbours' dense rhododendrons. I never see anything though they do do have a cat.

We had a sparrow hawk take a thrush fledgeling :cry: earlier this year only to drop it on the garage roof :o where a very concerned mum managed to save her offspring :D

I am sure that's why blue tits have so many babies .... sparrow hawk fodder :(:(
