Phoebe still poorly and now has full crop

Recommended Posts

I put a post on at the weekend, as Phoebe was very under the weather and hadn't laid (she has an ongoing softie problem), she had also done a few emerald green poo's. This is now day 3 and she isn't any better, and wouldn't even eat a blueberry this morning :( We took her to the vet yesterday, who did a full check and said she seemed fine apart from a lump up her vent - which he thought could be a soft egg. This morning when she got up her crop was full (she did eat quite a lot before bed lat night). She has another appointment tommorow, bu does anybody have any advice in the meantime? I'm so worried about her.

It sounds as though she has some kind of blockage, hence the full crop and her not eating. You could try a little olive oil or similar and massage her crop in case it's her crop that's blocked but I wouldn't try flushing in case there's a secondary blockage further down.

Mine laid softee on Tuesday very 1st thing, did not manage to expell the shell.

Crop full on Tuesday morning too, new that if she passed the shell, this morrning it would then be ok, but she didn't & it wasn't. It was very hard solid so gave a LTTLE OLIVE OIL and water. massaged it, and took dog for a walk, as not expelled egg shell, took her to the vet. (she wasn't very well by then, but not poorly, I now know an odd look in her eye!)

Any way he got it out, then oin way home she released another spoftee and soft shell, and has been so much happier/better since.

she too has an on off softee problem.

trouble is if they don't get rid on own then it starts to go bad inside and they can(if they cam) get rid themselves still but def need antibiotics for an infection.

good luck, hope this helps some
