HENthusiastic
I think I'm going to get the 50m poultry netting kit from Hotline! . Am so pleased to have made a decision as things have been getting very stressful trying to control the various creatures. We had thought of numerous plans, but I think electric netting is the best way forward and the fastest to set up. This is important becuase the poor Bettys are imprisoned in a shed most of the time at the moment (it is a very big shed). I should have the fencing by Friday! So can get it up Friday evening and the chooks can roam free once more! I think I've been so stressed about it I havent been able to see the wood for the trees. This just suddenly seems so simple. PHEW ps electric netting kit not paid for yet, so any feedback greatfully received. (I'm not clever enough to put a link in).
HENthusiastic
EAK! Now I'm worrying. The bloke said the kit didn't come with battery; so he's selling me one. he then told me I could get a charger cheaper from Halfords. that means he's selling me a car battery doesn't it? 12v. I think I remember reading that I'm supposed to get a leisure battery? does anybody use car batterys for electric netting? is it okay? eak. Chucky Mama
I am pretty sure that I have seen car batteries used before. I love the photo of what I assume are you alpacas, they are gorgeous

laurmurf
I haven't got electric fencing, as you know, HEN so i can't advise BUT.... I am soooo excited for you and the Bettys!
mostin
Yay for you and the Betty's . I know how good it feels when you finally make that decision. After another downpour the other night I went out to my soggy girls who were all sat in the wet half of the run, not the dry, roofed half . I slipped, jarred my back, the place stank of rotting poo and straw and I just felt so guilty housing them in that, even though they chose to stand in the horrid part. I stormed back into the house and announced, "That's it, this can't go on, it's not fair on them, they're too stupid to shelter. The roof must be built". OH knows when I'm at my limit and he went to WICKS today and bought all the supplies. Roof is being built this weekend . I didn't realise how much it had been annoying me until I made the decision and now I feel a weight has been lifted. I imagine you must feel the same . bettyhen
I have only used electric fencing for horses. You can use either a leisure battery (lasts longer between charges) or a car battery (needs charging more often and doesn`t seem to last as long). But as I said it was on single strand horse wire not poultry netting. Hope that helps a little.
