CrazyDaizy Posted July 13, 2009 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Hia Folks Our bunny sometimes sits in his hutch and thuds his feet on the floor of the hutch. He does this several times. It's kinda like he's agitated or anxious, though he doesnt appear alarmed at all. It's a nuisance when its 4am and it wakes us up!! His hutch is in the garden below our bedroom windows, which are open in the summer. He spends most days "free ranging" in the garden so its not like he doesnt get enough exercise. victoriabunny Posted July 13, 2009 Share Posted July 13, 2009 He's thumping, which they often do if they feel threatened - in the wild it's how they warn other rabbits of danger. Or sometimes it develops as a habit if they're bored. Is he on his own? If he's a single rabbit he'll be quite lonely - they really need the company of their own kind. Not sure its a good idea to get another bunny now, though often we look after other bunnies in a separate run where he can see them, while their owners go away. I have noticed he stamps his feet if there is a cat in the garden, so maybe at 4am there was a fox or a cat in the garden? FruitandNutCake Posted July 14, 2009 Share Posted July 14, 2009 Do you have a shed or garage that you could move him into? I would think it is most likely that something is scaring him. Also, if he is just in a hutch, have you added extra locks to it? Many, many years ago I had a fox open my rabbits hutch that was just in the garden - since then I have never left a rabbit in a hutch in the garden, but always made sure they had extra security of either a shed or garage, and in the winter my rabbits were living in my dining room! Now they have the luxury of a large walk in run attached to a 8x6 shed which they have free access to at all times.
