Chucky Mama
Please help, I am thinking of buying a bamix. I currently use a magimix type mixer to make sponge cakes and it is ready for the bin as the children have broken just about every bit of it now. Can I use a bamix to make cakes? If so which version should I get?
quickcluck
Hmmmmmmmm tricky one.... as I dont use mine for that purpose. Which tool on your magi do you use? I tend to make my cakes with a whisk!
Aga n Chickens
Hello I think that the Bamix is great for chopping, mincing, whipping and blitzing soup etc, but I don't think that it can incorporate flour, eggs and sugar like a traditional whisk. I have a bamix, magimix and a Kenwood mixer (bit OTT now I think about it ). I use the bamix for soups, mayo and salad dressings and it's grinding attachment for spices and coffee. The magimix for slicing and chopping large amounts of veg and salad, and some cake mixes. The kenwood I use for large cake mixes, and egg and cream whisking on a large scale. This machine is also great at christmas with mixing the rich fruit cakes, and super at taking the hard work out of bread dough. Now I know why I'm looking for a larger kitchen, only the bamix and magimix are small enough to keep out all the time. Everytime I want to use the kenwood I have to haul it out of a cupboard. Kind regards, Christine
Chucky Mama
At the moment I use an all in one mixture and bung it all in a magimix with the metal blade so the bamix would have to mix everything in a bowl - would be OK in stages - cream butter and sugar then add flour etc if it could do that. bellekatz
I've used my bamix for mixing cakes in a bowl before. I also find the sly-slice great - I chop everything using that now and its so much easier than my old processor.

Chucky Mama
Thanks everyone. I don't think I can justify and new mixer AND a bamix...yet
Laura007
if its for cakes i would go with a kenwood. the bamix is brilliant, but for very different reasons!
Chucky Mama
Maybe I should put the Bamix on my Christmas list. It might stop people buying me the endless chicken related gifts that I am expecting this year
