Hi i wonder if anyone can help me i am new to this sight and having recently purchased 3 new hens, i have a question. My bluebell and brown nick have laid daily now for a week but my coral has laid what can only be described as a marble, then 2 normal looking eggs and then 2 eggs with no shell. When laying the no shell eggs she looked ill and tucked up for an hour before and an hour afterwards.

Is this normal? i would hate to lose her as i have only recently lost my last two ladies to tumours.

Many thanks if you find the time to reply.

Really hoping for some advice or even if anyone has experienced something like this themselves!

Probably nothing to worry about as she is new to laying. It takes a while for their laying tackle to get the hang of it sometimes.

The soft eggs do cause them some discomfort and that would account for her unhappy demeanour.

Are you feeding them on layers pellets and not too much in the way of other food? This way she will get adequate calcium which will help matters.

There is an article **here** that might help.
