laying eggs from the perch!

Recommended Posts

our little exbat has recently been laying (every day) soft shelled eggs. This we have put down to the fact that her feathers are growing back quite quickly and we do put the omelet supplement into the water. However over the last week she is laying & dropping her egg from the perch, obviously quite early in the morning. Please could anyone advice what is happening here? The consequence of this is that the others are having a tasty early morning snack before we open the coup!! :( Please help!!

yes, perch=roosting bars/rails. We have a conventional wooden chicken coop and have 9 chucks. Funny I am now thinking it is something to do with the time we open the coop. This last week when eggs have been on the floor we have been opening later around 8am previously between 6.30-7.00am. This monring my old man was off to bike race and left early and opened up coop at 7am and no dropped egg! She very quickly layed in one of the nests although it is still soft shelled.
