Apple Cider Vinegar for Ducks ??

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I know that ACV is good for chickens, but :

1. Is ACV good for ducks too, and, if so :

2. Any ideas about the best way to administer.

(If it goes in the normal drinking water, it'll try to wash its eyes with it : So, will it damage its eyes : if not, I guess it can just go in the usual drinking water : If it will damage its eyes, then I guess I need to arrange a very shallow dish that he can't dip his head into ??)

As always, any advice will be warmly welcomed.

.......

My little rescued (muscovy ?) guy is a total delight - I'm charmed by him hourly, and have also been delighted by watching the Youtube video called "Ducks that truck".

Hi Lesley.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

I posted a similar request on Prac. Poultry a week or so ago - so far ; no response.

Will let you know if I have any useful replies.

Do tell about your babies when you have the time / inclination.

( I challenge you to watch the afore-mentioned YouTube video without getting slightly flakey -"If everyone had a duck in their life ; maybe we wouldn't all be so mad at each other" !!) -

Best Regards.

Max.

Hi indie and others.

I'm only interested now because I bought a 5litre bottle of the stuff at our local farm shop when I went to get duck food. Only when I got home did I start to question the advisibility !!

I do most of my shopping this way, which is fun, but does clutter all my cupboards up dreadfully !!

Actually I'll probably have more than half a large bag of duck growers pellets to give away in a very few weeks, maybe I can get rid of the ACV to the same good cause.

Cheers.

Hi Lesley,

How wonderful. I just missed out on mine hatching. He was about six hours old when the RSPCA brought him to me, along with several others they had helped out of their shells. The only one to survive was the one they didn't help and he is fit and happy and follows me everywhere, so it will be a terrible wrench when he finally takes flight.

I MUST apply myself to reading the thread about how to post pics. I took several of him every day for the first month - now only weekly. (10 weeks old tomorrow).

Best regards.

Hi to get rid of the growers you can just mix it up with the layers. I know what you mean about picking up lotions and potions my country store I go in for one thing and always come out with something else

Good luck indie(ps my sons have to upload pics and despite many lessons I never seem to be able to remember what to do)
