funny twitch

Recommended Posts

I have a Miss Pepperpot who has always been problematic, and thought I had found out what was wrong with her when I came across sterile peritonitis. But she has now started doing this funny wiggle with her head. Don't know if this means something or just her being daft.

Any ideas?

That's a good way of describing it!

So my next course of action?

Maggots? Yoghurt?

What causes it?

Can you tell I am new to this?!

Ok, so when my girl did this on 2 separate occasions, it was due to a very full sour crop.

Her crop will feel lardge & squishy if iit IS this. The break nck dancing is a way they are trying tp move the stuff in the crop. Is she doing this all the time?

If so, in my experience it would be better to get her to a vet immediately, (one that knows about chooks, there is a recommended list on here or you can use the advance setting on the RVS website to find nearest that deals with poultry.)

I don't want to scare you, just don't becomplacenent about it, as sour crop can kill them!

There are treatments you can start at home but be careful, her crop will need emptying even just a little tp releive her.

I found that the action of standing from sitting whilst holding my girl actually started brown gunk pouring out of her beak.

(if you think about how you lean forward on getting up, so you won't necessarilily need to do any drastic movements. You cam sgently massage her crop towards her beak & even while standing some will probably cme out.

There is soo much to say it is to much for one post.

Def a good vet . IF sahe is like ♠i describe sghe will be very very uncomfortable, please don't delaY IN DOING SOMETHING.

If it isn't ... phew!!!!

Well after a sleepless night worrying about her, I checked on her this morning and her crop seems fine, no smell either. And I haven't noticed the funny head thing either. I will keep an eye on her, and have added cider vinegar to the water.

Is this the right course of action for now?
