smokiechicken1969
Have had a stressful day today. I had to go to my head office for a meeting today which meant leaving at 5am. way too early to let my gang out so set everything out with instructions for a friend to sort them. anyway got home at 4pm and my friend had forgotten to let my cream leg bar pol out, i guess it was easily done as she sleeps on her own so not to be pecked until they intergrate. Anyway, the poor soul had been locked in all day with no food or water, my heart was in my mouth when i realised what had happened. but when i let her out i noticed some of the wood chippings had blood on. not loads but definatley spots. i have examined her all over but i cant see any trauma. there is no blood on her roosting bar? i dont know if she's got stressed and hurt herself trying to get out or, and this is where you all think im nuts,.....but its not where she's getting ready to lay is it? i've checked her bottom and there's no blood. im baffled as to where it has come from and so ashamed that i didnt leave clearer instructions for my friend to check EVERYONE was out of the coop

smokiechicken1969
hi redwing. no, was couple of patches the size of my little finger nail. i have checked her from head to toe but i cant see anything. im going to check her again tomorrow but im at a total loss where the blood has come from? so strange. i think she must have cut herself somehow trying to get out. i cant believe she was locked in all day poor thing. if i do find a cut should i spray with the purple antiseptic? can it be used anywhere? smokiechicken1969
im getting myself in a right state tonight. since coco was locked in she's definately not herself. shes been a bit puffed up and quiet the last two days. felt her crop tonight and it was soft and fairly empty. shes fairly alert and had some porridge tonight, she's just gone in her own bed but im convinced shes become ill from maybe getting stressed on monday. i have searched her high and low for any signs of a cut. luckily no more blood was found so cant be anything other than a small cut. she must be coming into lay soon so i wonder if its a coincidence that shes out of sorts. i would be devestated if i lost her have searced the chicken clinic looking for ideas, but time will tell.....
