where have the eggs gone

Recommended Posts

What breed of duck is she? I think that makes a difference. The Aylesbury ducks I used to have always laid in their night-time house, even though they had a pond. Do you put Daisy in a house at night? If so, maybe you could try leaving her in there until you think she might have laid her egg. Maybe until 9.00am or so. On the other hand maybe she just isn't ready to lay! Hopefully, someone else will have more help for you.

Hi she could be laying her eggs anywhere my ducks get locked in their house at night and they have normally laid by the time they get let out but sometimes they lay them whereever they are in the garden and in the pond i only find them when i pump it out once a week and then i chuck them away have a good look around and see if you can find any.

Daisy is a min appleyard i was late letting them out this morning so they were in from 7pm to 10am

i cannot empty the pond as it it about 25ft by 15ft 3ft deep

as you say maybe she is not ready yet, but she some times does a strange dance when i am about she puts her head down very low and to the side and scurries about the garden

and Donald just does as she says (she is very bossy with him)

i have been hopfully waiting for Daisy to start laying but no sign

a chicken farmer told my husband we will not see any eggs as she will be laying in the pond any one no anything about this she is about 26wks

My Campbell Ducks have very large chicken coup they use every night, which is within near waddling distance of their pond....they seem content to lay eggs in the hedge at the other end of the garden.....this was discovered by our young labrador and now we have a race every morning to locate breakfast before each other....
