chuckmum
Phyllis is unstable on her legs - she is standing on her toes and so finds it hard to keep her balance. In all other respects she is fine- comb is red, eating well etc. No sign of damage to the legs or soreness on the pads - no sign of lice infestation. She was treated with diatom powder about 4 days ago. We have three chickens and suspected - but had no evidence except some feather loss under the chest on all three and some scratching when they roosted at night - that there were mites about. They roost in a large shed at night and in the eglu by day. The shed has been cleaned out - the tiled floor was washed out with diluted Jeyes fluid and the floor dusted with Diatom before clean bedding was put down. The other two chickens are fine. My daughter was caring for them over the weekend and has not reported any problems so as far as we are aware this is the first day she has been 'odd'. She is currently in the eglu with lots of grub and water. When titbits are thrown in she has no problem in rushing over to get her share - it's just that she then totters about Any clues? As usual with poorly chickens it all seems a bit of a mystery. all the best Chuckmum
chelsea
I would maybe check her over for any injuries to the legs first of all. If it's a balance problem she may have an ear infection - this has been known to affect chickens before. If it carries on and you are concerned I would maybe suggest a call/trip to the vets.
