Hey :)

I'm new to the world of chicken keeping, but I got my first two today :D so cute :D anyway the breeder said that they should start laying in a month or so and I was wandering what to feed them in the meantime, at the moment I only have layers pellets.. will this do for them?? or should i feed them something else..?

Either way so far they havent even found their food.. they just sort of pecked at the grass.. I'm figuring that this is normal :D or I hope it is :eh:[/color]

Then layers pellets would be fine

Some people may prefer to use growers pellets until they start laying but as you already have layers pellets then go with those

However if they are slow maturing big pure breeds like Orpingtons or Brahmas then it would be beneficial for them to eat growers pellets for at least a couple more months

Don't panic if they are not eating much. They will take a while to settle in, and even then they won't eat a lot until they start laying - then the food will suddenly start to disappear!

You could try giving them some treats, to tempt them to eat a bit, but don't give too much - the layers pellets have everything in that they need, and if they eat too much other stuff they won't fill themselves up with pellets.

Grapes, sweetcorn, cucumber and cherry tomatoes are popular but you can give almost anything except avocado and uncooked potato.
