frogprincess
Hello, I am worried that my chickens have a cold. They have stopped going Bok Bok and instead make a worried squealy noise (though I think that might just be because they are scared of me ) I see two of them sneezing quite a bit, but nothing looks wet around their eyes ornoses (I can't pick them up to listen very easily - they have become very flappy and flinchy with me over the last two days). What should I be looking out for?
Macfoy
Wheezy chickens can be a sign that they have Mycoplasma...........there are other causes too. Mycoplasma is a nasty thing in that once you have it it doesn't go away, the bad symptoms are treatable, but stressful situations will bring on a bout, so maybe something has happened recently.....maybe a dog chasing them or a child, or a move of house? Anyway, whatever, if it hasn't cleared up in a day or two I would take one of them to the vets and get a proper diagnosis. Chickens don't get colds. So whatever this is needs treating if it doesn't clear itself pronto. Macfoy
sandyhas3chucks
I would take them sooner rather than later...... If they ave stopped talking and are wheezing sounds like they ALL have something, coupled with sneezing, not so good!
quickcluck
It's usually very easy to sort out with antibiotics. How many chooks have you got, if it's not many you can give them anti b's individually. Last time mine had this I had to treat all 12 so got Ornicure which was easier to administer Ring round your vets and see who's poultry friendly
