smokiechicken1969
Took two of my gang for a check up today as lost coco at the weekend and scared that it may have been something to do with the scaly leg. The vet had done bit of a post mortem on her and said it was an injury to her back and nothing disease related. Im still devestated and cannot believe how she could have injured herself to that extent Anyway he checked Mr Boris Merrylegs over and has prescribed Ivectmin (have i spelt that right). Non licensed drops for the back of their necks to treat the scaly leg mite amongst other things. Eglugtyne had recommended it and the vet said its very effective. He treated the cockerel there and then and gave me enough to give to the other 6. The total charge including the appointment and medication for all of the chooks was under £20. I thought that was really good. He was also very 'chickenie' and gave the little devil a real good examination all over. 'Ahhh your a lovely calm fellow aren't you' said the vet as he picked him up and Boris went all floppy in his arms..... ..... only for all hell to break loose and there were feathers flying, beaks snapping and sawdust bedding flying through the air like snow. if we have to go again the vet is going to wear oven gloves If anyone lives in the north cornwall area the Penmellion surgery near St Columb Major is very good value and has a very good chicken vet. He should be back at work soon, as soon as all his fingers stop bleeding
Groovychook
Thanks for the recommendation! My vet's lovely & great with the cats but not, by her own admission, very chicken savvy!
