Bumper Bits

Recommended Posts

Hi all

We fitted a bumper bit to the bully in our flock this afternoon and once it was on, the others wouldn't leave her alone - kept pecking at her.

We have taken it off again as don't want any injuries!

Is it possible to fit it to one chicken or do you have to fit them to all to stop the interest in the one who looks different!?

Thanks!

Sarah

I had this problem after fitting one of mine with a BB- I was quite shocked at how her best mate suddenly turned on her!

I refitted the bit on the feather puller after they had gone to bed and in the morning made sure there were plenty of treats scattered about the run -seemed to work as the next day they were best friends again.

May be worth a try.

Thanks Laura

We'll keep an eye on her and see how it goes. May be worth a try if we need to put it back on her. She's been very quiet since we tried earlier, think she was a bit shocked at us trying to put the bit on - panicked quite a lot.

Thanks again.

Sarah :-)

They do seem to home in on anything different, ours did the same but if you keep the others distracted it does calm down.

And be prepared for some sulking, the bully will ignore you and turn her back on you like a naughty toddler but I promise she'll forget in a day or two and forgive you!
