missing eggs found

Recommended Posts

i could not understand why Daisy was not laying

then came her first egg a few days ago then nothing,

i searched all the garden with no sign then yesterday i went to my local farmers shop for food and a lady who works there told me to buy a china egg to put in the nest.

so i thought i would clean out the hutch first and to my suprise buried under 6" of wood chippings and hay were 2 more eggs i think i must have been throwing them away when cleaning them out

it it usual for ducks to hide eggs and how long can they be left without her sitting on them

Hi

Yes they do tend to bury their eggs in a neat little nest spot(especially if you use equine bedding) but I have also found them in the garden before just lying on the grass! Glad you found them. Not sure how often you clean them out but if its weekly? as the weather has been cool I would still eat them but thats just my opinion. If you dont know discard them to be safer.

Glad they turned up

indie :)
