Is my pekin bantam male or female?

Any advice re best place to buy hens near Edinburgh. Have emailed and phoned George Ogilvie at Ballencrief near Longniddry but no reply this week. However, I should be ready to get some girls next week and am raring to go as have been busy building (rather OH has been) WIR today. Good girls worth the wait though if need be so any advice appreciated.

He was extremely helpful and friendly and delivers too but he was ill when I wanted them (and you just can't wait when you want them!) so that's why I went to George Ogilvie.

Never had a problem getting hold of "Gorgeous George", and I know someone who had chickens from him a few weeks ago - I'd try again!

Have you tried Paula in the Borders? http://www.pyrocheck.co.uk/paulaspoultry/frameset.html. You will need to follow the directions closely as she is in the middle of nowhere!

We actually took a drive out to George today and got him so plan to return on saturday morning to pick up 4 chickens - just have to make our minds up over the next few days which ones to go for:dance: he had a very nice selction. Thanks for all suggestions

That's great, I'm glad you got hold of him . Have a think if you want their wings clipped - he did my first 3 for me .

 

(Watch out for those white chickens . I saw them hopping onto a high wall and legging it into the next field .)

Yes we asked George to clip their wings for us just in case any have any flighty ideas and decide they want to visit our neighbors I noticed a few of his chickend hopping up some trees to roost !
