Chicken boarders

Since we moved the girls into their WIR, they seem bored.

 

Before the WIR, their run was on woodchip and the girls would dig around all day. The WIR is a concrete base with a thick layer of Easibed...but they very rarely seem to scrat about in it. All the seem to do is stand by the feeder or aimlessly wander about...then shout at me every time they see me because they want to come out. (they free-range every evening but I just can't supervise them all morning )

 

Are they bored? What can I give them for entertainment? I scatter their treats in the bedding but for the most part, they don't seem to bother looking for it (I normally find left over corn when poo-picking) The only thing they seem to really enjoy was broccoli...which I hung in the run, but they got bored with it after the first head.

 

Someone suggested nettles...but they showed zero interest in them. Does anyone know of any 'hedgerow' treats?

 

How can I keep them entertained? They currently have Layers mash but it's in a hanging feeder which seems to counter-act the point of using mash rather than pellets
