squidsin
will I get an egg?! I've had my pekins for two weeks (two of them, I've had the other for two days - no pressure on her) and they are all eight months old, so they should be laying now shouldn't they? I've got the Verm-X and have started worming them, in case that's it, but how long might I have to wait - or is it a 'how long is a piece of string' situation? Ain't Nobody Here
Yup, it's "a how long is a piece of string situation", I'm afraid . As soon as you give up looking in the nestbox every day, that's the day they'll first lay . Are you getting any signs? Red combs, crouching, checking out the nestbox? squidsin
Is crouching when they kind of go all flat and fluffy? My buff pekin has been doing that quite a bit today. I hadn't thought to look at their combs - what should I be looking for?
Ain't Nobody Here
Flat and fluffy sounds right . They'll kind of crouch down and wiggle their bums when you put your hand over their backs. Combs and wattles should be getting bigger and redder too.
