Have I got a dead tree?

Recommended Posts

I bought a dwarf apple in March and thought the rootball looked a bit dry so soaked it before planting out. It's not put out a single leaf so far. There are some buds on it, but they look pretty old and I can't remember if they were there already when I got it. How can I tell if it's alive or not?

Hi

I agree with Cinnamon, I usually s"Ooops, word censored!" with my finger nail the surface of ie a twig and see if its green underneath(do it mid way ) or s"Ooops, word censored!" the trunk. Also if its bendy it should still be alive(brittle branches tend to be dead).

You could ie feed it some miracle grow or similar to see if you can give it a kick start. Due to our very cold winter I know I have lost some shrubs that are quite old.

I think the plants have been a bit late getting going due to our prolonged cold snap. Keep it tendered and fingers crossed it may be ok

good luck indie :)
