**UPDATE**

I have spoken with a chap that works at the place I bought Gertrude...and he thinks my suspicions maybe correct that Gertrude is a non-productive hen I feel so sorry for her She clearly has the instinct to lay bless her He says that he has come across this approximately 4 times in 5 years. He did mention that he has known a non-productive chicken to start laying after they have moulted

I was really looking forward to seeing what colour egg she laid...if any of you have a Magpie maybe you could let me know what colour eggs your chicken lays.

Thank you.

Lou

Hi!

Just wondered if any of you have a chicken that does a similar thing to Gertrude my Magpie. She has a beautiful bright red comb and has been crouching for over 4 weeks now...she is approximately 34 weeks of age...someone else here did suggest she is leading me a 'merry dance'...have you any other suggestions...please

Day 1 of sitting on the nest for over an hour, leaving the nestbox and clucking loudly produced zilch

Day 2 of sitting on the nest for at least an hour and a half, leaving the nestbox and drinking and eating immediately after, produced...you've guessed it...zilch

Day 3 of sitting on the nest for approximately an hour, leaving the nestbox and drinking and eating immediately after, produced...you've guessed it once again...zilch (an invisible egg )

I will eat my best hat if she ever lays

Thank you.

Lou
