Hi guys,

well i have ordered the mesh for my walk in run which will be fitted at the weekend then put up the weekend after.

My question is:

I have self constructed a 4m x 3.2m walk in run, around the edges I have put 40cm paving stones whcih the run will rest on to aid fox proofing. In addition I plan to put a layer of mesh on the whole base of the run so it is a sealed mesh box. I havent been able to pave the whole floor, because it will be too expensive and also the ground is a bit uneven and i have already found it incredibly difficult to dig out just what I have done. So i need to know the best flooring to use now, I was thinking of turfing the whole area so that the turf will root to the soil underneath the mesh, basically sealing the mesh into the ground. I know the chickens will eventually wear the grass down so I just wanted to see if anyone had ideas before i put it up.

thanks

We are in the process of making a walk in run. We bought galvanised chicken wire with very small holes. My husband dug out loads of soil and laid chicken wire down, he then covered this with the soil. It is wood framed and will have the galvanised chicken wire on all four sides and the roof. Got to be fox proof?! Also there is a fence to one side and the back and a shed to another side so only the front is exposed and he planted a very thick wooden board along the front. I am sure it will be fine!
