smcdonald1000
My 2 chickens are laying the most funny looking eggs recently - I've upped their calcium intake with shell and lime power etc etc, but this morning I had one egg and in the middle of their run was an egg WITH NO SHELL - it was just laying there like someone had cracked open an egg and place it there on top of the wood chippings. Has anyone else ever had this?? Both hens (Nuggett and Big One) are happy little chaps and free range nearly all day and don't get any treats except for spring green leaves
Janepie33
Yes, mine have done this before. It's quite strange isn't it? I have had a selection of eggs ranging from huge to tiny. Rock hard shells to paper thin ones to no shell at all! It seems that many chickens go through a little blip and lay odd eggs for a while. I am sure all will be well in a few days time. There are several postings somewhere on the forum about unusual eggs.
