kitchens
Hi I know nothing about bees and so any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have some bees swarming around an old birdbox that has not been used this year. I have a young child and so it is not either safe or practical to have them swooping around the garden. What shall I do? Thanks.

Are you able to identify them? (photo?) How many is "some"
kitchens
I rang the local beekeepers assn. and he said they must be bumble bees, which now he's said that I am sure they are. He recommended that, as we can't leave it where it is (it's right by the Eglu door and next to my sons trampoline) that we wait till tonight, tape up the hole then take it up the woods and leave it there. Phew!
Olly
I agree, most likely they are bumble bees. Er - when you take it to the woods, please remove the tape before exiting, otherwise the poor bumbles will die a horrible death! You might find it easier to stuff a bit of rag or foam rubber into the hole, rather than taping it - quicker to get in, and quicker to remove too. kitchens
Oh don't worry I will. I was concerned because I didn't want to harm them. I hope they will be able to bumble around all summer and beyond!
Olly
sorry, I did think you meant that, was just worried that it might be taken too literally by someone else reading it! They should transplant quite happily, good luck with the move.
