Lizzie
Morning all Olive will be 1 year in August and lays beautiful brown speckaldy type eggs every day (she is a cuckoo maran) However, the last few days, her egg shell seems a bit rougher than normal and at the bottom it looks like a stain - similar to perhaps a mark if oil has seeped out and leaves a darker area at the end of the egg. She is eating and drinking and not mopey at all. Any ideas what this could be ? Is she lacking in something ? They have poultry spice in their food, ACV or citridical in their water, limestone flour and cod liver oil at intervals plus access to grass daily to graze. Any advice would be greatly received Regards Liz
Chucky Mama
Might it be a blemish caused by irregular calicum deposits? If it is OK inside I wouldn't worry too much. Of couse ensure that she is up to date with worming (Flubenvet).
Redwing
My FCB maran lays dark speckled eggs and they are often 'stained' too, always at the blunt end
