First venture out the run . . .

Recommended Posts

. . . and the girls didn't go more than two feet from the door! Actually I'm very proud of myself as I've been terrified they'd escape! They didn't spend very long out, just 15 mins or so. We're taking things very slowly . . . one tiny baby step at a time . . . !

Hi Emma,

I've had my girls for about 4 weeks now, so I'm ina similar position to you! The first time I let mine out I only managed about 15 mins before I got scared....the second time Polly immediately flew up onto the run and lept for the fence (failed by a good 3 feet!). They also seemed very twtichy and didn't go very far.

Today, only 3 weeks later, they are utterly different. They potter about, clucking happily scratching around (and not eating plants or grass - hurray!). They're more chilled too. I picked them both up and despite protests cuddled them on my knee for 30 seconds or so each. To my suprise, when I released them they both stayed sat on my knee, hand a handful of corn, wandered around on my legs then hopped off in their own time!

I didn't believe people, but it honestly does get so much easier - it stops being terrifying and now letting them out actually relaxes me!
