squidsin
My cuckoo pekin has an inflamed and watery eye (just on one side). I've cleaned it in a mild solution of salt water, and I'll take her the vet in a couple of days if it doesn't clear up, but I am worried. Is it likely she's injured it in some way? There's no blood or pus - I don't know if she can see out of it. She seems fine apart from that, but she's always the quietest of my chooks anyway. Space Chick
This can often be the sign of a respiratory infection. The same has happened to Suze my Silkie. I had eye drops from the vet, but when that didn't clear it up I took her back to the vet and he gave a course of Tylan (antibiotic) and it cleared up a treat. It also sorted out a few sniffles that some other girls had too
squidsin
Thanks. I'll take her to the vet tomorrow I think. I'm in London so I doubt he sees many chickens - but this shouldn't be a problem, should it?
Space Chick
You may be surprised I know I am not the only chicken keeper my vet sees.... although I am the only one that has them registered by name
