chicken bullying =/

Recommended Posts

hi,

i have 4 hens we started with 2 plymouth barred rocks, there called gogomagog and butternut  but a few months ago we got a new hen i cant remember the type (pointed somthing) but shes brown, anyway i introduced her to the girls on the grass where at first they ignored her then they turned on her pecking and pulling at her feathers, it was worse when there locked in the pen because the plymouths seem to constantly chase and torment her. After about 2 days we went back to the farm and got another hen the same as the one weve just got and the two browns got on fine, but again the plymouths just wouldnt have it (there a bit bigger than the brown ones as you can imagine) so after about a week leaving them together i couldnt take it anymore wanda - the first brown had been cut badly on her face just under the eye and had loads of gaps where there should be feathers and Bery - the second brown had literally had a massive chunk of her comb torn out, so i decided to remove them into the aviary until i can come up with a solution to the problem - although this naturaly causes more problems as the 4 chinese quails at the bottom of the aviary have had to be moved into a guinea pig huch so the brown chickens dont hurt them, luckily the birds dont seem atall fazed by the chickens =)

also even when on the grass together the plymouth rocks still chase and attack the browns, all i want is for them to get along - there all good layers and have loverly temperements but just dont seem compatible, any ideas ?
