migsy
My hens started laying a week to 10 days ago, but they have not laid a proper egg for about 5 days now. One of them laid a softy which was promptly eaten but I've had nothing since. They started laying after they were confined to the run for 3 days but since then I've been letting them free range all day. They don't seem to be eating many pellets. Do you think the free ranging has stopped them laying if they are eating bugs instead of pellets?
mole
i was told by a few people to keep the hens in the run till at least after lunch so they eat their 'egg laying food' pellets or mash and then can have a root round the garden for other stuff once they have eaten what they need to continue giving me eggs (as that is what my chickens are there to do). even when they do free-range my chickens always pop back into their run for a frenzied pellet eating session then charge round the garden again funny things! migsy
Another softie. Clump of yolk on the white hen's head and soft shell remaining in the run.
