Tdw
I have had two chicks hatched today one bantam one hen the hen chick seems really aggressive towards the mother hen the chick keeps pecking her face and eyes is there anything you can suggest I'm worried this behaviour will continue as she gets older. Many thanks
meezers
Is it asking for food ? my chicks will peck at Muppets beak if she has found something for them to eat. Have you put the dish of chick crumb within reach of chicks and mum ?
Madchook
I've had chicks do that in the incy to eachother (generally the ones that hatched earlier and are more mobile). I think it is just instinct to find food, I certainly wouldn't label a day old chick as a bully - mine certainly never did it again omce they had figured out what they were meant to do
Tdw
Thanks for your replies things have all settled down and mum is showing them whose boss now and it's remarkable how the two chicks copy her every movement fingers crossed they grow into beautiful hens or beautiful cockerels these two are my first chicks we have hatched so I'm a bit like mother hen myself fussing around lol
