cantata007
I am now in week 3 of ownership of my 3 hens which were randomly "plucked" from a field of free range hens. Monica is fighting fit and lays everyday. Pheobe laid one egg and stoped, and Margo has laid no eggs and looks decidedly skinny. She has a rather pale floppy comb and dirty feathers at the back end, but her vent is clean. They have now been treated for mites and lice (margo was crawling!) they have had verm x but are on the 3rd day of Flubenvet now. They all eat well, a layers pellet ad lib with poultry spice and a handfull of corn at 4pm, plus a slice of toast in the morning! Can I give Margo especialy anything to beef her up a bit in the way of food, she is soo skinny!
Egluntyne
Laying hens are often skinny. Now that you have addressed a possible worm problem, she may well fatten up. I'd cut out the toast and keep them in the run a bit longer so that she can eat up more pellets. You could also try a protein supplement such as rinsed tuna now and then.
