Well most of my chickens runs have roofs on so they dont get wet :

Big Run

Appenzeller Run

Sebrights Run

And Wyandottes Run ... So that leaves :

Orpington Bantams Run

Pekin Run

And Leghorn Run Uncovered...

So when it rains for them they all stay in right ? WRONG !! Everyone who has not got a roof on there run stay in ... Except my orpington bantam hen She must just like the rain as this is the 3rd time she has done it now ... The cockerel was dry but the hen was soaked ...

My dad brought her in and had to dry her with the hair dryer ...

 

Also i heard that seabrights are not very hardy to the cold weather (Winter) ?

So i was thinking should i put a pekin hen in there to keep them more warm or bring them in and keep them in the show cages ?

 

Oh and my dad is finally picking up the week olds today for company because only one chick hatched ...

I'm not going by experince just what I have been told.

Sebrights don't tend to mix well with other breeds so they should be brought in during cold spells. My breeder has sebrights in a covered run for just showers then they come inside in the winter.

My breeder now hates the breed lol

 

The slightest bit of blood and they all go in for the kill he now has 4 silver sebright girls with no combs all in different cages and a cockerel outside alone.

 

He is not breeding them anymore so they are all going ot different homes once healed.

I've seen alot of breeders with uncovered pens, I guess all their chooks get wet and don't mind too much. Could you make a sheltered area in the run - a bit of corrugated plastic propped up , or a pallet with tarpaulin draped over it perhaps ? no guarantee that the chooks would have the sense to get under it though

They have the house to go in if it rains but some still stay out
